In 2020, local residents, Dean Michel & Jennifer Bacon, created a fun, if not chilly, campaign to raise funds and awareness in their community. The Jump In The Lake Challenge is an opportunity to build a healthy community together, while safely practicing social distancing.
Unlike other organized Polar Bear Dips, participants jump into the frigid early May waters from their docks or local piers. In 2020, the community found creative ways to take the plunge, raising upwards of $15,000 for local charities.
The second annual Jump in the Lake Challenge proved to be an overwhelming success! Over 40 brave participants of all ages jumped into 8 frigid lakes to raise over $53,000 for the Wellness Centre in Coboconk. The facility will be a community hub for health and will benefit both seasonal and full time residents of the Northern Kawartha Lakes region.
